I have a 20 gallon high that has a CUC of 20 snails and a few scarlet hermit crabs. I feed the CUC one chopped up algea wafer twice a week. There is plenty of rock in the tank with 15 gallons of water. Whenever I add life to the tank I also add Dr. Tim's or Fritz 900. How many inches of fish can I add to the tank at one time?

Unfortunately inches per fish is kind of an outdated concept.....it is impossible to say because it depends on too many different factors. As stated, how many and what type of fish do you plan on adding?

Around 4-5 compatible nano fish is a good amount.

So say 2 occy clowns, a royal gramma, neon goby, and a watchman goby for example.

personally, I say only one at a time, I believe its the safest way to avoid all possible fish stress, I've never had any disease in my tanks in 16 years.

My only exception to my rule is with clowns, then I add 2 at a time.

But, to each his own...

1 at a time in 15 gallon, excluding pairs, which can be added together.

We don't really use "inches of fish" in the marine hobby. With reef tanks it's much more about non overlapping ecological niches that fish inhabit. For example, an open water swimming fish, like a damsel, inhabits a different niche than a blenny, which tends to stay on the rocks. So it's all a bit more nuanced. My suggestion is to start slowly and be mindful of the fact that you want to develop a plan for the order of addition. Add your most aggressive fish last.

Thanks all. It is one at a time and no more then 5 fish for this size tank. Most aggressive fish last.
