How many hours should my UV be on?

Do you guys know a good schedule for the UV sterilizer? I m installing a 36W on my 120-gallon tank.

I’ve got a 32 that I run uv for 8 hours nightly

I run it 24X7.....really no reason to have it shut off.

I run mine 24/7 on the basis that I can’t see any reason not to, and it’s busy killing any nasties in the water column.

I run the water through at a fairly slow pace for maximum contact time.

I run 24x7 on my UV. The only time it is shut down is for maintenance or if I need to eliminate light pollution from the fish room for bioluminescent observation.

My recommendation is to place it on a timer and run it during day and off at night. Search " articles " on forum section. I wrote an article which will give you insight on schedules for a UV unit
