How many, is to many

I have a 125g tank, and I was playing around making an order from Vivid, my wish list for my tax refund this year, lol. Anyway, came out to 22 coral frags. Don't ask me what the $$$ amount came out to, lol.

I dont think that is too many. I just bought about 70 frags into my 180.

70 Geez, lol thats alot and I thought I had it bad. I wonder what the avarage is in peoples SPS tanks.

If they are all frags and going into a 125 I don't think thats bad at all. Remeber Frags are normally smaller. But do keep in mind where you place these frags for future growth for them!!!!! 70 full size or even midsize colonies in the tank will take up quite a bit of real estate!

My tank has only been up for a little over a year and so far I have collected over 150 peices and I am no where close to being done. My friend Shane (sdietz) probably has more than that stuffed into his 4 ft 120

. I also have another friend that said he has about 60 different sps mini colonies stuffed into a 30 gallon nano. It is one of the nicest tanks I have seen. Ill have to get some pics.

I dont know but I just put in around 80 different frags and some where colonys in my 2 tanks lastnight.

To much money for me also, lol. I have saved links to a few people in this forum that have posted in the corals for sale section of this forum that I will get in touch with when it comes time to buy some SPS corals. They pretty much the same corals at 1/4 of the price, can't beat that.

I'd rather go slow and pick up pieces that you truly want. I tried to cram so many frags in to fill the void and now I'm regretting it.

You know it's too many when you have to start a thread about it. :wink: I spent my 1 month salary on frags last month.

amay121, no worries on your point. I am going to be very pickey on what I buy to go into the tank. I trid to buy a frag package the other day in another forum I am in. They had 10 frags but only 6 that I wanted, wouldn't bust it up for me, so I didn't buy, I will keep looking. I found a very nice frag package the other day, I didn't count but it must have been 25 to 30 frags for $400 and $100 shipping, all great corals, but its to close to XMas for me to spend those kinda $$$ right now, but it was a must have frag package, all Ora, Vivid, Alantis Aquarium corals. The good thing is, this person has a large tank and will have somemore frags I am sure after the first of the year. Geez reelfishy, your whole pay check, my wife would leave me if I did that, lol.

nice i really like Vividaquariums very nice store and trust worthy! im sure all the pieces you got are really nice! I dont think that many frags is really anything for that size of tank haha i have put that many frags in my 34g solana

Well, I said I was going to be pickey about the SPS corals for my tank, so much for that idea, lol. Went to the LFS today and bought two corals. You have to understand, our LFS could fit in your LFS about 10 times, really small and these two corals I got today are as far as I know the best corals he has ever gotten in, so I bought both of them. I also have no idea as to what they are, neither did the lfs man, lol. These are good sized about 4 inches tall.
