So. I’m sorta new at this but did have FOWLR tank a few years ago. I’m am very proficient in freshwater especially African cichlids.

So I have a 65 gallon tank that has about 60lbs of live rock reef octo classic 90 HOB, Aquaclear 110 and Fluval 704 canister.

I currently have :

5 Green Chromis
2 black clowns (ocellaris)
2 lyretail anyhias
1 neon dottyback
1 flame back angel
1 lawnmower blenny
1 yellow tang
2 fire fish gobies

I know in freshwater cichlids tank as long as the water was filtered and the parameters were good then overcrowding was actually somewhat helpful when it came to aggression.

is this the same for salt as well?? Does anyone think that I am maxed out for this size tank? Every one seems to be happy and has their favorite spots in tank and there is no one pushing or running another around. Thanks for the input.

I’d have to agree with the above comments. If the Tang is small, it will last a good while in a 65. But will likely appreciate more room eventually. The Chromis might eventually kill each other off until you’re only left with a pair or one. I hope you have better luck than me! I gave up on chromis 15 years ago. The fire fish stay small and are peaceful addition. Neon Dottie backs on the other hand can be mean as heck!
Don’t plan on adding any shrimp to this tank. They’ll likely be an expensive snack. The flame back is a good fit for this size tank. The Anthias would probably appreciate some extra space at some point along with the Yellow. The clownfish are a good fit for this tank size along with the Blennie. I’d say you’re definitely maxed out plus some. Lol. Of course this is just an opinion:)
