How many QT's in a 'perfect' world?

I currently have one 10g QT that has my clownfish in it (copper treatment in progress). I am now looking at the quarantine time for inverts for CUC and it is recommended at 76 days also. I am thinking about getting another 10g setup for these types of marine life which will never have a copper treatment used in it. I also know that at some point I will be adding corals to my DT, so I will want to quarantine them also. So my question really is: should I get an additional 10g then down the road add in another larger tank for coral quarantine OR should I start with a larger tank for coral and also use it as an invert quarantine tank? Side question for a coral quarantine what size tank is "respectable" for that setup?

Size really depends on what you are trying to QT at any given time. I personally utilize 1 QT for inverts and Corals, however it is important to understand the fallow period starts every time something is added. So in my case I do not add often, and do it in batches to accommodate a single tank. If you are adding regularly and do not want to restart the fallow period each time, it would require a tank per add.....

Yes, use the same QT tank for inverts and coral.

I read elsewhere that the fallow does not need to be restarted with each add. The only parasites could be encrusted on the frags/inverts. Once hatched it wont re attach unless fish present. I guess that it would be possible to inadvertently transfer a swimming stage in the water when transferring frag.

Sounds good. I was thinking about a 20 long for a frag/invert QT tank then. In your experience do you find it better to have another size or for me starting out this could be a good fit? @piranhaman00 @Fred2482

Yup 20L is perfect, then get a cheapo 24" t5 two bulb on amazon and one B+ one C+, at least thats what I do

i have 6 10 gallon tanks for hybrid TTM, a 20g long observation tank fish go into for 4 weeks post TTM, a 10g coral holding tank for 2-3 days before main QT to catch anything big (flatworms, bubble alge, etc) a 20g long coral QT with a bunch of saltwater adapted mollies as ich/velvet canaries, a 10g invert tank, and a dedicated dry emergency 40g and always have 50g saltwater on hand in case.

a lot, but it works to keep my anxiety down. i hate the idea of parasites in my display

I run two quarantine tanks and they meet 99% of my needs. One QT is a 29 that is permanently setup as a mini reef tank. It is used to QT inverts and to 'grow out' smaller or sensitive fish. Second is a 20 long that is setup as needed for fish. I have a 40 breeder that I can press into service for the last 1% where a fish is too large for the 20L.

i should mention that this lets me fully QT corals and inverts in 21 days, and fish in 42 days
