Had a conversation with someone earlier that got me wondering about how many reefers we have who are retired.

Well are any of you retired? :)

I was extremely fortune to retire from the grind in 2001, but I ended up busier starting in 2001 with way too many projects and hobbies. I'm now working harder today than I did when I was working my career.

Retired from the US Navy in 2010. Still working well over 40 hours a week in the private sector. I recently agreed to go salary which I told myself I would NEVER DO AGAIN. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment, but I have to fund my addiction passion somehow.

I scored a really cool rare disease and left work in 2014. Commercial drivers license, security clearance and multiple industry certifications down the tubes.
Edit
I got stopped. I didn't get to retire. Dec 14 2014 I passed out at work and went to the hospital. Never went back.
I worked at the regional phone company installing and maintaining special services and communication systems. Our group installed and maintained for county 911, hospitals, government, school systems, resorts.
PGA at the Greenbrier. We put in the lines and bandwidth for the media. President coming. We put in the facilities.
County wide government with fiber in the ground. We built it. The local water company automatic controls for the pumps and water storage tanks. A forestry company with sites all over the state that had an phone in China on their system.
On call 24/7 and out of town for weeks sometimes. Training all over the country. It was hard and fulfilling and paid very well. Now I am on SS. At age 54 I had enough years of work to qualify.
Now I pet my cat, watch my fish and argue about QT on the internet.

end edit
Technically they are not sure which one yet but have it down to 3 choices. They have to look at my brain after I don't need it any more to be sure which one.
Now I eat lots of pills and stick patches on myself so the little braintrons dont all leak out.

Don't be sad for me. I have had a really good time and I still am.

Semi retired rancher, lol those darn cattle and horses still need fed and worked. My body hurts everyday but I still get up and do it. Even when I had eye surgery I was out there feeding and chasing livestock around.
The better half is retired riveter from the navy.

2.5 years ago I was involuntarily “retired” by a boss who knew he wasn’t “the guy”, in the eyes of our staff.... on the morning of the day I came back to work early, following a full hip replacement. The company paid through the nose for his ineptitude in letting me go “without cause”, but it has played on my mind since. Getting back into reefing, after 23 years away from it, has been hugely rewarding and therapeutic. Glad I came back to it and fortunate that my wife has been totally supportive.

Now I’m getting approached to do consulting work and trying to weigh my priorities.

Retired carpenter and building projects manager except once a carpenter always a carpenter. There is no such thing as retirement when you have a building trade.
Today I will be making a 6'x3' gate and fitting it along with 2 gate posts. Retirement you just be having a laugh.

Retired 1/19 after 25 years of emergency management. Glad I got out when I did...since then the jurisdiction has experienced Covid, 2 major hurricanes, winter freeze and historic flooding. The real plus is I don't live there anymore so didn't have to go thru any of that!

Current system is 1.5 years old and coming along nicely, that is after being out of the hobby for 10 years.
