A lot of people have different CUC opinions and methods. Recently I’ve read that some people but In 1 snail or hermit crab per gallon. So a 120 gallon tank can have 120 snail/hermit mix. Some people only use snails and only put in a small hand full. What’s your CUC/gallon ratio like? What do you have in your CUC? What has worked and what has failed with your CUC?

I have a 32 gallon bio cube with 18 snails 7 hermit crabs and 1 sand sifting Star ( heard a lot of bad stuff about sand sifting star but I’ve had mine for months and he’s do great!)

I think it depends on your feeding style. For me I tend to not overfeed, so it don't have a big clean up crew. And I don't have a lot of algae on my rocks. I have two larger hermits, and like 4 really small ones. 3 nassarius snails, 3 ceriths, 5 astreas, 2 throwing stars. Had 2 larger turbo snails, but my biggest hermit crab killed and ate them. This is for a 95 gallon tank. My sandbed appears to be clean from detritus, and left over food. I also picked up a sand shifting starfish. They are definitely cool. Most ppl say they starve to death, so I'm concerned about that as my sandbed rarely has leftover food on it. I will start target feeding it some clams every couple days.
