If you're losing any corals, on a "monthly basis," I'd highly recommend figuring out what's wrong. I lose corals, every now and then, but it's more like 1 every 6-8 months, and it's always a new addition or a recently cut frag.
If you're losing frags, that frequently, even wild corals, I'd say your parameters are not "right on the money." Are you acclimating these wild corals, both water acclimation and light acclimation?
I lost one sps frag from Reefraft from shipping stress and one wild colony the entire time my tank has been set up...if you are losing sps frags monthly something is wrong and your parameters are not "right on the money". I did have a have a few zoa frags melt a few weeks ago though, never figured out why.
I normally float them for at least an hour depending on water volume in the bag.
Mix up some tank water and coral rx in a bucket.
Cut the base off or remove from whatever it is attached to.
Inspect for pest.
Dip in coral rx for 15 min.
Use a turkey baster every 5 min.
Re inspect for pest
Rinse in bucket of just tank water.
Attach to my own plug or base.
Drop in tank.
I can't honestly remember the last time I lost something. It has to be at least 1 1/2 years.
Something is going on. Either water quality, lighting, flow or a pest of some type.
I order a lot of sps online I've lost 2 frags in last 8 months. ! I do not go crazy acclimating but will float bag at lease an hr then I dip for few min and glue in good spot then don't touch again unless absolutely necessary !! I'd just wait a bit to add new sps and keep eye on the sps u have
