I'm quite lucky I think as my incoming water is 60-70 tds and a about 6 months ago was nearly 90 so maybe higher in summer .
So I just use a 4 stage.
Sediment.
Sediment/ carbon block combined which deals with chloramines.
Membrane.
Then di.
And gives me 0tds for months and months before rises to 1 tds making 50 litres water a week.

It's the temp/seasonal change. Mine is the same I hit ~200 in summer and ~150 in winter months.

No it does have to be installed " piping" a certain distance from the heater though. It uses a pressure pump to force water through and back into the water heater. Both tubes are connected to the heater. I did not read the distance from the tubing connection requirements until I was done My fault still works. Get the brass fittings work great

It does the less waste the better. This is why many people collect and use the waste for other things.

No the pump on the system overcomes the water pressure in your system the water heater is always full. Look at it like you have a leaky tap. It just simply displaces it. It is like watching paint dry though. It takes at least 24 hours to fill a 35 gallon container. Also you have to crimp shut the expansion tank line or connect the tank. I used vice grips

Take a look at Watts NO WASTE WATER RO system. I am vary happy with mine. I had to buy the DI filter separate on amazon. The same vender sells replacement filters for the Watts, and also resin for the DI. It is the no waste water design I like the most it is more expensive but saves in the long run. There are now copy cat ones out there.

so did you not get the DI? I have this same system i have not set it up yet kinda nervous looking into getting the brs DI add on the are some many lines and has to be plugged in trying to figure out best way to go about this... will only be used for tank.

Mine as well. Here are some pictures. Bought my DI off amazon, and also the resin. Fittings should come with cartridge's. That bag of resin will last at least a year. All lines are color coded , The green plastic line connects to the cold water inlet of the water heater. The red to the outlet. As you see I put vise grips on the line that is meant to go to the expansion tank which you do not use. The DI is a must, and the one picture shows a DI meter in line with the outlet downstream of the DI filter which you can get at any fish store. Make sure you use the brass fittings I put on the previous post. Do Not over tighten fittings just tighten slowly till they don't leak use the plastic compression fittings not the brass. Don't be embarrassed to ask me anything. I have a tendency to assume things since I was in the trades all my life 49 years

Should clarify when I said use plastic compression fittings, I meant the rings that go over the tubing which by the way if you need more tubing is also available at the fish store and is 1/4 inch
