Trying to figure out how I want to run my sump on my current build. 240 gallon acrylic with dual overflows and returns.

As the poll asks, would you do one large sump or multiple smaller dumps connected?

I have the choice currently of a 120 at 5’ long or three 40B.

If I had the budget & the space, multiple. Similar to what @AlexG did but on a smaller scale.
I really love that his refugium is not hidden (but out of sight of main DT), hosts multiple macro algaes, and a ruthless killer.

Thanks for the mention Mark Derail. I think there can be multiple approaches on sump tanks. I currently run 3 tanks in my fish room that serve as filtration/sumps. I would say ask yourself what is the purpose of having multiple sump tanks versus one sump tank? In my setup I wanted to house the filtration in multiple sump tanks as it was the best use of my space. I also wanted to keep a display refugium tank and maximum water volume. If you are looking for maximum water volume or have some specialty animals/coral frags you want to keep on the side then multiple sump tanks might be a better option. I really feel though that maximizing your space/water volume is important based on the needs of your system requirements. I have to mention the "ruthless killer" housed in my display refuge tank is a spearing mantis shrimp. :)

I’m running 2 sumps, separate fuge and a frag tank all plumbed together with my 65gal dt. This gives me max water volume and options to run various equipment throughout the system.
