how many t5 bulbs on icecap ballast?

looking to see if i can run 3 39 watt t5 bulbs on an icecap 440 ballast?
will it work?
 
I thought you could do three 39W with a 430. It'll support up to 12' of bulb for 2 and 3 bulb installations, but if you go to a 4 bulb set up, it'll only support 8' of bulb. I just went through this myself trying to figure out if I could drop in a 430 to replace a Tek lighting ballast (of course, the four bulb ballast went out within 18 month-couldn't have been the two bulb...). I had to use a 660 to get (4)-39W's...

Where can I find info on wiring them and what they are capable of since it isn't posted with IceCap and doesn't seem to follow what IceCap has listed on their ballasts? You'd think the manufacturer would give some guidance, but I can't find any on their website specifically regarding T5's, other than the HO mentions.

I found a pdf earlier this week with all the wiring info on the different arrangements, but can't find it out there now. Below is a link to what appears to have been copied out of what I found. It had to come from IceCap, but I can't find the info on their website. You'de think 'Guides' would actually give guidance...

And then to add to the confusion, more conflicting info from their manuals (unless my 430 ballast is so old it doesn't get wired the same as other 430's-the label on the ballast says it'll only run (4)-2' bulbs, or (3) of any other size bulb)....

Must be voodoo involved that I just haven't figured out. Maybe the release of the ballast you have makes a difference? If so, it'd be nice to find that info somewhere, too...
 
Ahhh. Apparently the verbage they use in thier owners manual (The 430’s Versa-Lamp technology can drive all T5, VHO or PC lamps in any combination up to 4 lamps) is incorrect. The next table listed in the manual linked for the 430 has this table.

Someone needs to revise their use and care manual... I guess with the careful wording, they are technically correct ('can', and 'up to'), but it seems a little misleading, to me at least.
