How many times a day do you feed your fish?

I also feel like I may over feed. My three large fish eat me out of house and home. LRS 2 times a day they also get spirulina 20 and new life spectrum. Oh ya and about a whole head of romain over 5 days. They always act like they are starving

Wow! I thought you had stolen one of my pics andys! I have those same three large fish as well as the IM grazer! I give them a sheet of Nori each morning and then at night alternately feed frozen or NLS Thera+. The two diamond gobies eat whatever makes it's way down to them as well as pods... they get pretty hungry moving the sand all over my tank... I do want to get more fish though, and have tried, but those three are all 5 to 7 inches and they don't leave the new residents alone...

5 times a week, skipping a day here and there. Done the same for over 30 years now and never lost a fish to starvation. Most live past 10 years with several over 13 years old, fat and happy.

Most fish don't have the ability to process a whole lot of food at one time (and that's when your nutrients creep up). So one or two bigger feeds a day may be more beneficial if spread into 3-4 but feeding the same overall amount.

My favorite fish are flasher wrasses followed by the fairy wrasses. My fish seem much healthier now that I have installed auto feeders and have them drop a mix of different types of pellets four times a day. In addition, I thaw several different types of frozen in a squirt bottle in some RODI. (LRS, Rod's Food, Mysis, spirulina brine, formula one (which doesn't work as well) and one other food I can't remember). I squirt that in generally once a day as well. I keep the bottle in the fridge for about a week.

I feed at least twice a day with LRS or Rods with a cube of Formula 1 or 2 thrown in, plus a sheet of nori every other day. The amount is what can be consumed in 2-3 minutes as I do not want to get any build up for decay (NOs/PO4) since I dose a coral feed blend 4 ml every 6 hours. Even with that schedule my fish are always begging for more when I am at the tank.

Has a cube of formula 1 once a day, 2 small clowns, midas blenny, flame angel and a chevron tang.

Slightly ot. I'm for sure getting a group of Anthias in a few months. What auto feeder do you guys use, and how is it set up? I figure I'll be feeding 4 times a day or so, and want to auto feed 2 of those times.

Twice a day!!

live food once or twice a week.frozon brine with roe twice a day around 4 cubes.half a sheet of seaweed for tang and wrasse and a couple pellets for the guys that live in the sump.that's a lot of food for a 80g but the acro's are growing fast and the fish are fat so I'm happy except for the 20g wc twice a week but that's all apart of the hobby.

Depends on the types of fish you keep, and how much grazing is available in your tank. I keep a lot of anthias, leopard wrasses, and dwarf angels all of which do much better on multiple feedings. A typical day is a 4x6 sheet or nori as soon as the lights go on, a mix of Calanus (sp?) mysis and masago roe late morning, spirulina brine mid afternoon, and vitamin soaked LRS in the evening. All foods except nori are poured into my vortech pumps. Each meal is typically consumed an about 30 seconds; nori takes about 5 minutes.

Is the masago dyed orange? How to you clean it or do you even bother?

I used to rinse it, but was a pain so I don't bother anymore. Doesn't seem to have any negative effect.

I feed flakes in the morning before I leave for work, when I return they get live black worms and Rod's or LRF depending what I have at the time, or a cube of Mysis, Brine, Mussels, or one of the other assorted frozen foods I have for them. Once and a while I might give them a small pinch of flakes at night before lights out.
