How many Wavemakers you using for your 40 breeder?

Hey now. So I’m looking at my 40g and I’m kinda Sighing because I have an aqamai KPM for my 40 breeder and a KPS I bought for my QT. Now after much research I am finding I might need another one.

So I’m kinda curious. I mean the KPM starts at 1150 gph and it is for a FOWLR with macro algae. Should I just get second fixed speed wavemaker? Am I overreacting? Should I get a fixed speed for my QT and get a second KPS and use two kps’s on the 40 breeder?

I’m going to my LFS in the morning.

I just use one IceCap Gyre 1k. I probably could do a second one on the other end but I really don't think I need to. It's plenty powerful. The new version seems to be pretty sweet -- 2K gyre.

I had 2 MP40's on mine, though they were turned down to about 30-40% max.

I'm using two Jebao SOW-4's (132-1056gph each) on a 37 gallon LPS dominant tank. It's a few inches shorter on the depth but comparable. I'm building a 40 breeder setup and don't plan on getting new pumps. The ones I have now are not even on full blast, I feel they are a very good fit for this size tank. So I would have gone for two KPS for the 40 breeder and just a MaxiJet or the like for the QT.

There’s a lot of love for Jebao. If my LFS won’t give me a good deal on a KPS I’ll get that or a Jebao online depending on what I can find.

Did you end up finishing the 40 breeder? I was not sure is the Sow-4 or 8 would be good for that setup. I currenly have a 20 gallon but want a pump that could alos work for 40 breeder when/if I upgrade
