I've seen the 47 year tank thread but how about you? I moved quite a bit so the longest freshwater tank I've had is only about 3 years. Current freshwater tank is only about a year since i had a heater malfunction and literally explode my previous tank. Just bought a house so i plan on many years with the freshwater and new saltwater tank.

How long has yours been continuously up or what's the longest you've had one running for?

Longest I've had a single reef tank up for was 4 years, only took it down due to a move. My new one is only 8 months old.

I've got a 29 gallon biocube that's been running for about 3 years, and a 125 that just over 2 years old. I'm in my forever home, so I plan to run the 125 until I die or it does.:)

Grand total i'm just about 5 years reefing. I had a 40 breeder for almost the entire time, but recently switched everything over to a 75.

When I am asked how long my aquarium has been running sometimes I am not sure what to answer. In 1990 I started a 100 gallon reef aquarium. I was using bioballs and a venturi skimmer with VHO fluorescent tubes. In 1997 bought a 125 gallon and transferred all rock, corals and fish to the new tank. Three years ago I transferred everything to a new tank, same size with new lighting, furniture, etc. I have used various filtration systems, I have bought many fishes and corals but the rock is from my original tank. Some of my corals are over ten years old. Then one wonders how old is my tank. At least I can say that my live rock is 29 years old!

Current system is about 3.5 years old. Had an older system that ran for about 5 years before I had to move and sold everything for a time.

12 years old love it that was our first coral it was the size of a quarter when my wife picked it out now it's folded on both sides of the tank

I'm only a couple years into reefing but I had a freshwater tank that I moved 3 times over about a 15 year period. I got rid of all of my freshies except one yoyo loach. He's in an AIO now. I've had him for over a decade.
