I just installed a powerhead in my aquarium and notice I can control the amount of airflow that enters the system. If I open the valve all the way it is super bubbly and if I close it there are no bubbles at all. Of course, I can also adjust the airflow to anywhere between those options. How much airflow am I supposed to give the powerhead? My 30 gal aquarium is home to 2 clownfish and a small zoa colony. Thanks!

You do not want powerheads to get airflow...they will wear faster and make noise as well as bubble your tank up.

Are you using an aqua clear or something similar? True power heads are good for water movement or under ground filters lol.. the problem is a powerful small stream comes out and we need more wide pattern, random flows in a reef.. either way keep the air off if you decide to run it..

Thanks for the response. It's a Marineland Maxi-Jet 900 running on the powerhead mode. I will be sure to keep the air valve closed.
