This whole thing started because of my skepticism of their claims. As I am with many marketing claims. copy/paste from my post on the other site: For me its about the truth. There's so much bad marketing out there its hard to know what's real or not. This seemed one easy thing that I could test. Marine Pure specifically says they will not leach anything, will not alter your water chemistry, and are completely inert.

Brightwell/Kent is also claiming basically the same thing with their new product. Brightwell is trying very hard to not say Ceramic at all in their description and Kent (continuum) at least calls it what it is which is a ceramic. So, we will see.

I am likewise very interested if you test the Brigthwell/Kent product.

That's a Stichodactyla gigantea carpet anemone. I sold it to a fellow reefer when I took that particular tank down. it was my favorite organism in my tank.

Not that I know of. They are less prone to that than haddoni anemones.

I've was running GFO for ~1month before the last test, so possibly that has reduced my Al levels some.

That is Triton's belief that GFO will remove Al. I'll be testing that as well.

I should have also mentioned I did a few 30% WC's in that time. So I certainly can't directly relate the reduction to GFO.

Well, after 30 days there has been 0 change in color with the polyfilter. Either the polyfilter doesn't pick up the form of Al leached or the polyfilter isn't sensitive enough to pick up the amount leached.

It actually looks cleaner...lol

Block is in the sump now after a month long soaking and several rinsings.

And as you can see its directly under some flow. Now to test for erosion. [emoji4]

So, since around July 18th the marine pure block has been directly under that ATS getting directly hit. Last night/this morning I swapped out sumps thanks to petco's $1/gal sale and including 75 gallon tanks.

That block did have a little erosion but not as bad as I thought it would be. So, I would avoid direct flow like.

Also, a note about all of the blocks and plates. The marine pure block definitely holds a lot of water and yes I know its bigger. But when removing each of them the marine pure blocks were surprisingly heavy and quickly drained water and would keep draining. Like clowns flowing out of a compact csr at a circus.

The marine pure blocks I had to be vary careful not to grip to tight as well as my fingers would press in easily which was hard not to do due to their weight out of the water.

The beightwell/kent block felt mushy. Where the marine pure block felt brittle. The dimples on the one side very easily would dissolve if touched.

The brightwell/kent plate actually felt the most solid. I was fairly impressed compared to how the others felt.

Another advantage of using sintered glass, I can remove the media with no issue. I know what you're talking about, I do have a large marine pure block and yes it holds a massive amount of water but extremely brittle. Grasp it too firm and it'll just crumble leaving small fines all through the sump.

Wanted to share what I have seen with Marine Pure. I have 300G with 3 blocks and a 160G Frag System with two. 300G doesn't run Zeovit. I started the Frag system with Zeo but eventually gave it up. I haven't done a water change on either system since Jan 2016. The 300G has low flow through the blocks and the frag system has high flow. Also overskim on both.

Unfortunately, I don't have at triton test before putting in the blocks. If they do leach AL, at some point they stop. IMO the least of your worries. Zeovit seems to put way more AL into the system.
