Hey everybody I received my aquamaxx xl biopellet reactor from marine depot today and I also bought a 32oz bag of aquamaxx biopellets so I was wondering how much to start off with and the rate at which I should increase the amount of pellets in the reactor? I have a 150 gallon tank with nitrates around like 40ppm. Thanx for the help in advance

You can apply 200ml for every 50g. I believe this information was listed on the TLF BP packaging that I used.

If anything, you can start low, and raise it up higher. Just don't run these on dual reactors, as they do not run efficiently.
You'll start collecting mulm (bacterial slime) from low flow.

Hope that helps!

each biopellet product has different dosing suggestions as for how many per gallon.

Start off small with about 1/8 -1/4 of the amount of pellets you are supposed to use for your actual water volume. Every two weeks add another 1/8 or 1/4 depending on what you decided on doing with your initial dose.

+1 for going slow. With your NO3 at 40ppm you may experience a bacterial bloom(looks like cloudy water). From what I understand it should be harmless.

Ok thanx guys.. So just start off with a small amount and then every two weeks or so add a little more until I reach the recommended level or I start to see results right? Sounds simple enough.. And how do I know when its time to replace the pellets? Will they slowly just start to dissolve away?
