I have a sump with a Kessil H380 growing Chaeto, I also have two pH probes, one used to be used for my calcium reactor but I'm no longer using it. When the refugium light comes on, the pH spikes from 8.1 ish to 9.7 ish according to one of the pH probes, the other only has a 0.1 ish spike in pH. It's been a couple months since I've calibrated the probes so it's probably time but I really have a doubt about the major spike on the one probe. I'm just curious about how much of a spike is feasible.

9.7 seems high. Was that in your display, or was that locally in the sump where the chaeto is located?
Bulk Reef Supply's video on refugium lights found that their pH went above 9.0 when using the H380. Keep in mind however that this was an N of 1, and many factors could have contributed to the measured pH that were not directly related to the refugium light or the chaeto. Without more trials and some controls, it's not possible to say definitively that the light was wholly responsible.
I would calibrate the probe and see what the result is.

I would expect that the probe is reading incorrectly. It is the newer of the two probes and they were calibrated at the same time a couple of months ago. During the day they do basically read the same and yes the probes are in the sump with the chaeto.
