How much chaeto should I start with in my refugium? I have a 90 gallon tank with a 25 gallon sump
The refugium is going to be in a basket in my sump

8 hours is probably a good starting point. Many refugium owners run their lights off-peak when they're aleeping.

Yes, start small and let it grow, as you want to use as much of nutrients as possible and then trim accordingly. I am running mine 14hours and opposite from DT lights.

Have you tried to contact fellow reefers around your city? Maybe some LFS, they sometimes have for their tanks and are willing to give you some from their own tanks, that's how I got mine.

Not yet, I only began looking and am hoping the algae barn will have more soon

Algae barn had some in stock today, just bought it. You can get on there email list for a notification when in stock if they sold out again. that's how I got mine.

Great, glad you got some. My email was being sent to my promotion emails in gmail, not my primary. So that may be why you missed seeing it.

Hey, since you chimed in maybe I can ask a question. My chaeto is coming Thursday and just did a large water change to get my nitrates down to around 12 ppm and phosphate around 0.25 ppm. That's a good level to add it at right? I saw in another thread someone having issues cause their nitrates were pretty high.

That should be just fine! Ideally you want a reoccurring 5-10ppm on nitrates depending on your tank's bioload/amount of chaeto

Thanks, I've got some chaetogro as well. Just hoping my flow is enough.
