I have a nano 10 gallon and I do a top off once per day. It seems like I put quite a bit of water in each time so I know it's probably changing the salinity rapidly. The question is how much change is too much? The reason I ask is if I forget one day. I'm sure fish would be ok as it evaporates slowly so they can adjust over those two days, but when I top it off, it brings it almost instantly back to where it was two days ago. Anyone have any general guidelines for when a full top-off would be too much?

Fish can take sg dropping more than increasing. With that being said I can not say what is too much but if you are concerned I would get a ato for your tank to give better piece of mind

You should check what it is before you top off so you know how much is actually changing. But I second the Ato if you can't do it regularly so stability is maintained. Especially on small tanks it's important to stay up on everything daily.

I've increased mine by 4 points in SG without issues, many times in the past.

Thanks to everyone for the replies . Just to clarify with your 4 point comment. That means something like 1.020 to 1.024? I'll make sure to measure my water tomorrow morning and see what the sg is at one day of evap
