Arkansas here, the one reputable place in Little Rock that I know of has frags that sell for 5$. Frags, not corals. The corals usually retail for somewhere around $30+. The frags depend. $5 ones are no larger than a pinkie nail, and usually a single polyp, or the not as pretty corals. So I could technically buy 20 of them, not including state tax...

Theyre around $20 a head. Got my hellfire for $40 and I heard my wallet make a little oof noise cause I thought it was expensive!! Then I checked out hellfires online...

In the Twin Cities, I can get 1-2 frags, especially anything with a name. There are exceptions, though.
I’ve been doing my best, with super cheap or free corals, but the culture here is pretty entrenched.

Depend of youre looking for basic. . . high end. . . . LPS . . . . SPS
My LFS has frags 4 for $20 or larger frags 3 for $50 - can range from zoa to SPS

I’m in Atlanta and we have a pretty healthy local reef club that has a lot of members who sale decent common frags, sought after Euphyllia and even some high end SPS (what I’m interested in). When I decided to try out SPS last December a local hobbyist had a ‘4 Pack’ for $100. I thought it was a great price to start with a few and see how well they did. This is the pic of them below in his tank when I picked them up. L-R: Walt Disney, SC Orange Passion, Cali Tort, Pink Lemonade. The Cali Tort was 1”. It’s 2 1/2” now. I lost the Orange Passion but still have the others.

For as big as metro Atlanta is, there are only a handful of marine fish stores and they’re scattered all over in the suburbs. You can find common starter softie corals at some for $15 & $20- mushrooms, zoas, gsp, stylophora and pocillapora frags, porites, etc.

For $100 I usually walk away with about 8 pieces. Around 5-6 if I get a torch or scoly or something. Usually I’m getting clams, softies, zoas, sps. I’m in Houston!

Sweet Jesus 5-6!!! Acans or Torch! It’s $50 bucks here in Cali for 1 acan or torch.

awesome, would love to see an updated picture of how they look now! I think 4 named frags for $100 is a really solid deal

Impossible question given the range of coral prices. Average maybe $15-20 per frag. Industry average is probably what, pushing $40 these days?

Here in New Hampshire depending on type of coral (frags) you'd be lucky to get 2-4 (tops) for $100.

Man where are people located where they are paying $10 per frag. Here in MI they are not cheap. Usually the cheapest is $25 and the price just goes up from there depending on what you get.

Prices likely directly correlate with density of hobbyists in a given area. Supply and demand. I often wish I lived in Socal rather than MN when I see some of the deals offered on this forum for local pickup in CA.

How much can you guys get for that price where you live? This could be very eye opening, since not many people talk about price when it comes to buying coral...

Frags maybe 2 to 3. Full pieces maybe 1 to 1.5. Not very close to the ocean.

I have a 500 gallon system I’d be willing to give you 5-6-7 Frags for that price and very large frag’s some are 2 to 3 -4 inches

I'm in California, and the local reef groups often have frags for $5-10 a piece. So depending on what you are after 10-20 frags.
