I was going through some of the older threads I have saved and stumbled across this older survey from 2013-2014 which is on the amount of money people spent on their aquarium lights per unit.

https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/how-much-did-you-spend-on-your-led-fixture.101546/

I thought it would be fun to try and replicate the survey today to see if any of the numbers have changed, considering the many advances in LED technology in the last 10 years. I read through the first 4-5 pages of responses in this thread and was amazed at how many people were building diy kits from RapidLED and other sources. I know that around that time I was doing the same thing, but it seems like now less people are doing diy lights than they were previously.

Anyways feel free to take this survey and maybe comment on what lights you have and what size of tank you've got or any other information you think is relevant to the issue.

~85 per unit for Marsaqua bought in ~2014/2015. Still in use and running strong.
Also have a larger DIY led fixture from 2012 that's still running strong that would be <$100 per unit.

I bought an Ocean Revive TK247 for about $200 new for my 28 gallon biocube and I am really impressed with its performance so far

I have 3 x 4 foot fixtures and spent about $700 for each

That is a huge monti cap and an awesome looking tank. The stand looks awesome I would like to know what it look like with the rooms lights on!

I'm using two of Mars Aqua and all of my corals are happy!

Thank you! Funny enough, don’t have any recent pics of the whole setup in daylight. Did find one from when I built it though. Rarely have it on as i need to add a fan for humidity control inside.

Yikes indeeed! I look forward to the day I can drop that kind of money on a fish tank! Are you happy with the purchase? Did the performance justify the cost?
