How much do UV sterilisers heat the water?

Battling dinos at the minute. Put a 30w unit on a 150g / 600L tank and it’s running 1C hotter.

Sound normal?

I run a unit that size on my 120g tank without any issues. A lot of factors could be at play, such as the speed of the water through the UV and if you added an additional pump for the UV.

I did add a pump but it’s only a small 1000L Eheim pump.

I'm a Fahrenheit guy but I just googled and it says 1 degree Celsius is equal to 33.8 Fahrenheit? If that is correct I say something is wrong and would double check your thermometer. I run a 50 Watt unit with a seperate internal pump on a system with a little over 200 gallon and haven't had any noticeable increase in temps after installing it months ago. I also run a smaller unit plumbed into the return on a system about 40 gallon total and no increase in temps there either.

My temp was 26C (78.8f) and it’s now 27C (80.6f).

Either the pump or the UV or both are warming the tank a little. It’s fine. Happy to leave the tank at the slightly higher temp.

Ah thanks for the clarification. I thought it sounded wrong hence the? That doesn't sound too bad then. My tanks all bounce between 78 - 81 depending on the house temp. I use fans durring summer.

Yes, a small increase is normal.
