how much does running skimmer air intake from outside effect tank temp?

Question for those of you running the skimmer air intake to the outside are you seeing much fluctuation in tank temperature during the colder months?

This is something I have wanted to do for quite some time now because my tank can barely keep a solid 77 degrees when I have the window cracked. My tank is in the main entrance to my house which is on tile that gets kind of cold during winter and there aren't any heater vents nearby. So I have been keeping the windows shut at night to make it easier to keep tank temps stable but am thinking of routing the skimmer intake outside to get fresher air to help keep PH up.

Will this just reintroduce the issue by sucking in 20 degree air straight to the skimmer?

There are a lot of variables there really it will depend on how far it is from outside to inside because the air may have an opportunity to the heat more toward room temperature if it's a long way to travel once it's inside. But if it's only a couple of feet of tubing it may be close to outdoor air temp when it goes into the skimmer. You could always add another heater to offset if you see a temperature drop.

If you are running a refugium you can run The fuge light the hours that your tank lights are not running and that will also help stabilize ph at night and also might help keep the temperature up a little
