How much does scents in things like soaps affect your tank.

I have had very slow progress over 7 months In my 170l tank , I have just a few frags left and no real growth honestly (my fish are happy strangely enough). However my 10g frag tank which is two months old, everything is growing like weeds.

the biggest difference, my 170l tank is in my bedroom outside of my bathroom.
we don’t use scents in my home due to me being very allergic to them. However when you shower you certainly can get that clean soap smell in the room.

I am just pondering how/if that might be affecting my tank (I do run carbon). How can I test that ? Short of moving the tank (I may do it if get desperate)

Any smells within the home...cooking,smoking,candles can be pulled into the tank via skimmer.
