I just swapped my 500 gph power head for a 800 gph one and I feel like that is too much. Should I just stick with the 500 or the 800? I switched because it seemed like I was getting detrius build up from not enough flow. But now I feel like I have too much. I'm looking to get corals also. Zoas, frogspawn and hammerheads.

You don't need a bunch of flow for LPS or softies. I have a mixed tank that has a XF130 and 2x MP10WQDs plus my overflow 1100 gph. SPS like more random flow. Just make sure you have enough to clean the junk in your DT from building up on your corals. Good luck!

The more flow the better to a point, if your corals don't like the strong flow then dial it down. If they are doing fine with high flow then keep it

I haven't added corals yet but I will be. I guess We will just see when I add them

I ran 2 mp40s in my 65g about 80% plus my return with LPS. I like a ton of flow. The corals responded well, I wanted to add more but transferred it all to a 120.

How do fish react with a lot of flow? I have a cleaner wrasse along with 3 blue chromis and will be getting a small yellow tang till he grows out
