How much flow is too much flow?

I am curious as a buddy told me today I have way more flow than needed. I have a total of approximately 5700gph in movement in a 56 gallon tank.

Thing is I have sugar sand and I have my flow set to where is sweeps across sand fast but doesn't move too much of it. Works well with high flow up top for SPS and medium flow lower for all the nems.....is this too much?

Is there a formula we are supposed to follow. I know that I am still not even close to what the ocean moves but still....

I was told before that you basically want 10 times the turn over rate....so....is 100 times still good?

i think if it works dont worry about it. if you nems move up to hi you may have some clean up to do. but know as far as turnover i try to match my Skimmers flow but ive heard of 50 plus for in the tank but they were all sps. not sure there is such a thing as to much flow. maybe the wrong type.

unless your fish are pinned against the glass, corals flesh is being stripped or massive sandstorms; you are good.
I would watch the nems though.

I have a koralia 3 in my 54 corner and at one point a couple of my sps that were in front of it were growing weird. The one got real smooth and didn't gross coralites on the one side. The other (which was a stylo) started bleaching on the side facing the k3.
