How much Glue to order and what glue?

Anyone have any idea on how much glue I might need for aquascaping my live rock for a 40 gallon breeder. Trying to determine what type and how much of it order. I've looked at the Seachem reef glue or the BRS extra thick glue. Wasn't sure if I needed 10oz from BRS or if a few tubes of Seachem's reef glue or similar.

I'd seriously suggest you get mortar.

i use the BRS gel that comes in tubes. recently read on the forum that you can also buy dollar store super glue which can save you money down the road compared to other options.

I imagine it depends on what kind of scape you are going to be building. For my scape on a 34 gallon RedSea Max 130D I ended up using half a big bottle of thick glue (Gluemasters). 2 small bottles of thin glue (gluemasters) and 6 2oz tubes of JB water weld. This was for a nsa style structure.

Rock powder + glue masters thin > thick and mortar builds

Whatever glue you get, make sure you also get a lot of the accelerator.....will make things a TON easier when building scapes with superglue.

You don’t need accelerator either rock powder and thin glue. The smoke reaction sets almost instantly.

Gluemasters thin glue and crushed rock powder. I'm sure mortar wouldn't hurt but I just used the gluemasters thick glue to reinforce once my scape was done. The thin glue and powder forms a solid bond in seconds....don't get it on your skin though..and it will hurt through gloves.

I picked up all 3 Gluemasters (thick, medium, and thin). I thought Medium was the easiest to work with. It's still thin enough to seep into the crevasses to make a good bond, but doesn't run quite like the Thin does. I agree with @Waters - Insta-Set will make your life easier. Not sure if you're using epoxy and/or mortar as well, but go with at least an 8oz bottle to be on the safe side.
