How much is too much flow

It can be a little hard to judge, but if your sand is still staying in one place, you might need more flow.

You don't want it "blowing around" obviously, but if the pumps can't at least move the light stuff around some, they won't lift detritus either.

I have 2 WAV pumps and thinking I should add a third. Is this its overkill? 100g tank, barebottom

NO

Well if you have acros they like/need very high flow. As far as I know most anything will benefit from high flow too. Some may not do well being blasted like acros but I'm sure you can find a quieter spot if needed .

I have an MP60 (@100% NTM) and 2 each Tunze 6105s that alternate between 50% and 100%. Total rated flow in my 180 is 80x's the volume, not including my return of course. My water moves and no one complains. Fish love it too.

I have a 90 with two wavs an mp10 and two yes two vectra m1s as returns in a sps tank somewhere around 120 turnover I am not running them at 100 percent as I do not have a bare bottom tank.
I do not think there is such a thing as to much flow (unless it's directly blowing on a coral) I don't think we could ever match the intensity of the ocean in our tanks without a whole wall of powerheads.

And this winter I'm a add another mp10
