I have an 8 gallon biocube with an upgraded LED lighting and filtration system. I have been buying frags and they are all doing well. But how much is too much. Are corals like fish and you should only have so many per gallon? Or can I buy tons of frags and let my 8 gallon biocube host a psychedelic fragfest of unlimited corals?

Corals actually offset your bioload, they consume nitrates and phosphates and hold them as biomass. All you need to worry about is coral aggression, ensuring they have room to grow, and providing proper lighting, flow, and water chemistry.

I think this is a personal choice. Do what you like and makes you happy. I personally do not like the supper packed tanks that seems to be all of the rage on sites like instagram right now. I call them skittle tanks because it looks like someone just dumped a bag of skittles into their tank. Ugly.

Always good to plan your tank with future growth in mind. What is your plan when frags turn into mature colonies? How will you address reduction in flow, dosing, maintenance? Just my 2c
