Just put water in my 125 gallon tank and I have a lot of rock that’s been in a tank for 4 years that I got from a buddy of mine. There’s a mushroom coral on it, some aiptasia, bristle worms and all the small organisms; including some little beetle looking things. It’s got sponges and then... bubble algae. A ton. So first thing-

1) how much live rock am I supposed to have in it? I’m going to stock it with as many fish as I can while being responsible with the bio load. I don’t like a ton of rock where it looks like a pile of rubble but at the same time, I don’t want to short it either.

2) what to do with all the bubble algae? I don’t like it obviously lol it’s been in a dark room for a week and I got 5 emerald crabs and they’re doing okay, but I’m not sure if it’s the lack of light that’s killed some of it or the crabs.

What of the organisms that I listed are bad?
What to do about the bubble algae?
How much rock?

Please excuse the mess. I’m still setting it up
Thanks in advance!

And that’s not all the rock, that’s just what I’ve put in it so far.

I can only answer your first question. Rule of thumb is 1 pound of live rock per gallon.

Looks like you have aiptasia also, unfortunately. I can’t really tell from the pics but that looks more like cyano than bubble algae. Some better pics would be great

Not sure what Cyano is; I’ll have to do some research. My apologies, I’m putting some better pictures up now

Wow! That’s quite the infestation of algae!
Need a big tub of elbow grease and some buckets of saltwater. Scrub it off. Place in the dark for awhile with a powerhead in clean saltwater. Change the water a few times.
