? dunno where you got 1000gal from, reefer 350 with a skimmer rated to run up to 1000l :)

LOL, I was not looking at his skimmer's rating. The most important piece of the question is not there. How big is the tank!

I assume he has a 73g tank since he mentioned "reefer 350" which is a red sea max 350, I assume. If so, you have two tangs in a 70g system will be an overkill IMO. Tangs are swimmers and need a lot of space not to mention take the the space your rock work takes. Specially the PBT can get as big as 10" and is rated for 120g tanks.

It's a red sea reefer 350 90gal . With all due respect, I didn't ask if the tank was big enough for a pbt and a yellow, and I had a Valentini in my last setup with no problems at all. Granted they have mixed reputation with regards to being reef safe but it's not with shut eye's that I'm getting him. My question was regarding the stock amount in my tank in relation to the equipment I have, and yes I realise there is more to it than just how big my skimmer is...water changes....nutrient transport ..... cuc .....reactors and media....etc etc

TBH it is based on what your filtration can handle and the fish maximum size. At one point in time, I had 18 anthias in a 65 gallon reef tank.

I think the Red Sea Reefer 350 only has 73 gal display tank. Looking at the chart, people often seen total system volume and mistake it for display tank volume.

Thanks all That's pointing me in the right direction. Did I read right that a flame should be added last should i add one? i think the gallon thing may be because I'm in uk :) i may be wrong on that though.

There are a number of things that affect the fish populations on can have in a given tank.

Tank maintenance routine has a big effect. One tank with minimal flow, filtration, nutrient export etc would only support a minimal population compared to a tank with ample levels of all of the above.

But even given a great amount of support, many fish have their own ideas of personal space and they will punish interlopers. Of course, fish are individuals. Some fish will be laid back while others of the same species will be aggressive.

So there are guide lines to stocking levels but they are just approximations.

If possible, I would add the Flame last. That is if the PBT doesn't chew it up:) It does sound like you have the right equipment to support more fish.

your question was how much more til your overstocked, but you don't want to hear that you are already overstocked. sorry, but you can't have it both ways. sure you can put more in your tank, but you seem to think that better equipment will solve everything. the best equipment sold is not going to help your fish in a tank that is too small.

He's not going to like what you just said.... Lol

yeah, I know. but if he doesn't want an honest answer or opinion, then he shouldn't ask.
