How much par is too much par ?!

So I’m gonna try to keep this as short as possible
I’m getting a hydra 26 for very cheap.

trying to decide what to do with it

currently I have a reefer 250 with a 36” hybrid t5 with 2 ai primes in it . I can add the hydra to the middle of that ..

Or
my sons tank has a single ai prime 16hd 18” cube I can swap out his for this hydra and put his into my t5

what do you guys think is the better set up ?would the hydra be blasting my corals with too much light ? I think if I give my son the hydra it would probly help him out a little and the prime 16 would make a more even distribution for me

thoughts?

I think it really depends on the stocking for each tank. If you don't have SPS, the hydra probably won't matter since you have decent coverage. If the 18 in cube is just softies and easy stuff, same thing, the AI Prime could be sufficient.

In my tank I’m doing a mixed reef sps and lps my sons tank is mostly lps with some easy sps

Start low and work up. From what I understand they aren't some amazing par machine. However when using hybrid already it changes things. Best method is to just rent a par meter or purchase one yourself. Watching how your corals react is still a good method.
