Just wanted to know how much polyfilter i would need for 139g total?
I use poly filter floss as needed. It offers an added level of filtration, particularly when trying to filter out fine particles from the water column for polishing the water.
Oh alright! Just wanting to know if you could "overdose" on to much polyfilter, trying to clear highlevels of aluminum in the water
I don't know that filter floss is the answer for high levels of aluminum.
Are you using RODI water?
its a 4 stage spectrapure unit!A lot of people don't even know what the product polyfilter actually is and what it does and think you are talking about polyfill/filter floss etc
There really is no set amount based on tank size..Just wanted to know how much polyfilter i would need for 139g total?
There really is no set amount based on tank size..
You want 2” thick covering entire are medium pack. Anything more and you’ll reduce flow too much and only the top inch or two really ever gets dirty so no need to go overboard. Pull and replace every few days or weekly.
(Medium pack) wet soak the poly so it isn’t so fluffy then loosely fill.. not packing it tight.
My bad I missed that part.. OP was talking about Polly filter pad.. my new question is why is the OP needing something to remove ammonia? There is bigger issue not going to be solved by magic products. First he should be addressing the cause of the ammonia itself.Again different stuff... polyfilter and filter floss are totaly different products

It bears repeating that polyfilter is not filter floss and not just a bag full of pillow stuffing that needs to be soaked and packed down. This is a chemically designed filter pad to remove contaminants, metals and medications. Why do people dispense advice without reading the OPs information first?
Put the polyfilter somewhere with high flow and preferably where all or most of the flow has no choice but to pass through the poly pad. If your sump has a flow-over style bubble trap before the filter socks, laying it down right on top of the socks would be perfect.
Cut it to size if it's too big. When it changes colour to bright red (the polyfilter colour change for aluminium) then change it out. It may only take a day the first time, hopefully longer the second time. Repeat until it doesn't change colour anymore.
It might be worth increasing your testing for a while to monitor everything else to keep things stable.
hey there just wondering if you think using Poly filter, chemipure and Purigen in a 32 reef is too much?

My personal take on them is this:hey there just wondering if you think using Poly filter, chemipure and Purigen in a 32 reef is too much?
