So I'm planning a new tank and am close to being able to order the rock one problem, I have to do it online so can't see it in person to know how much to roughly order.
I have a rough idea of 35-40kg but don't have a use for any excess rock apart from putting it in the sump which won't fit too much of it since I'm planning a refugium maybe max 2kg

The tank is a waterbox 190.5 so roughly 5'2.5'2

The rock is Marco rock reef saver

I'm looking to a scape similar to these photos are from CJ'S aqueriums, WWC, reef dudes, king of diy and reef tank 365

Happy Friday

sounds like a nice build. You would be surprised how much rock is needed for your tank. There is a rough saying 2 pounds a gallon. (Sorry, don’t know kg). for Reference I just put 50 # in my 75 which is 4 feet and it is not very high.

I would say start with around 125 to 150 pounds. Don’t forget not every piece will be a perfect fit so you may need a few extra to play around with to you put together a scape you like. you can alway order another case. You may end up closer to 200 by the time done

this is 50# in my 4 foot 75

I like the way you are thinking. That second tank's scape is really nice. 35-40kg should be plenty of rock though how you set up the system's remaining filtration will have some bearing on using less rock if you wanted.
