Anyone know how much reef crystals I would need to make 4 gallons of 35ppt? I think it is about 1.2 pounds but not sure of exact measurement. Thanks!

(1.12) this will get you close. .28 makes 1 gallon

38.2 grams per litre if using Red Sea Coral salt.

Most salt mixes require about 39..40 g added to 1 Liter of RODI to mix to 35 psu.
This seems quite a lot, but you will notice this is realistic.

According my measurements / need amounts for 34,8 psu
( * 35,0 / 34,8 will tell you the amount needed for 35 psu)
Reef crystals: 40,8 g/1 Liter
RedSea - Salt: 37,9 g/1 Liter ... as this salt mixture seems to use anyhdrous components
RedSea - Salt: 38,8 g/1 Liter ... as this salt mixture seems to use anyhdrous components

mixing 4 gal RODI to 35 ppt with "Reef crystals" it should behave like this

cant say for reef crystals but for fritz rpm it is 2 and a half cups per 5 gallons for 35ppt/1.026 ( just made 150 gallons of saltwater and used 72 cups to =/- to get 1.026 on my refractometer). would be nice if fritz would have a chart or something their instructions as on box suck balls basically might as well add salt and test with hydrometer or refractometer till you get desired salinity.

on their website they have a calculator for 1 gallon of water it take 0.314 pounds of salt to get 1.026 or 35ppt salinity.

but people are asking about cups because most people dont keep a scale to measure salt LOL. so my answer is sound, 2.5 cups per 5 gallons to get 1.026 or 35ppt ;)

For all of the money people here throw around on equipment, a $20 digital scale is a small price to pay. Most accurate way to measure any ingredients, be it salt for our tanks, or flour for a cake.

For instant Ocean Reef Crystals. 135 grams to 1 gallon.
