How much aragonite for a 40g breeder if I don’t want any burrowing Species? 20 lbs?

Also can I leave it in my tank with an inch of salt water?

Unless you have something that needs sand, it is serving mainly an aesthetic purpose. There are calculators for how many lbs of sand you need to add to a tank for a certain depth of sand. If it is for show, you can make the bed as thin as you want.

Yeah - 'enough sand to make you smile' works for me. Get much past 3" though and you start to create a deep sand bed effect.
