I recently got back into the hobby after a few years break. I had this 28gal nano lying around so I resealed the back chamber, added 2 syncra silent 0.5s for returns, mp10 for additional flow, IM aqua gadget to hold my filter media, and a Kessil a160 for lighting.

My question is how much surface agitation do I really need? I don't skim on this tank as I do weekly water changes. I find that with less movement on the surface I get no film on the top. There is plenty of movement in the back chambers for oxygen. Just looking for thoughts/feedback.

I like to at minimum, see some rippling at the top. During the day my tank looks like a boiling pot of water. The more agitation the better usually.
