Hi
I am trying to mix salt water for my 90g aquarium being delivered tomorrow (vey excited!). I have a few 20g bins and 5 g containers filled with ro/di water. I went to the container of TM salt mis and it doesn't give you any instructions for how much to use per gallon?!! for example 1 cup mix per gallon say! it just gives you the salinity to shoot for. Any rough estimates guys?! would really appreciate it.

Rough estimate, 1/2 cup per gallon. Maybe a bit more if you are trying for SG above 1.025. You have a 5g container of water, so add 2.5 cups and check the salinity. You'l do just fine.

thanks! Appreciate the help!! like your picture...

Thanks. I was snorkeling off Bimini in the Bahamas and they have these huge Bahamian seastars that are all over the shallows. I found this one that had only 4 legs and had a friend take the pic. I get to snorkel the Keys pretty regularly since we are only 3 hours away. But I've only been able to snorkel in the Bahamas 4 times. Bimini is only 50 miles east off the coast from Miami. The islands sit on an underwater 'plateau' and for mile around the water is shallow and very sandy. From above the water is just this most amazing shade of blue.

Wow Ron sounds beautiful! yes now that I look more closely at the picture I see only 4 legs! Best of enjoyment on all your snorkel adventures. I am going scuba diving oct 2013 in indonesia. I cant wait and I will post pics.

Indonesia! That should be very cool. I'm working on my scuba cert, but I'm in no rush. We are going to Belize for 5 days in May and I intend to go snorkeling at least 2 days... 3 if I can get away with it. There are so many other things to do there, it may be difficult. We have an underwater camera (cheap point & shoot in a waterproof case) that works OK, but we just got a new Olympus TG-1 that can go 40' down with no case. It should make taking better pictures a bit easier. Look forward to seeing your SE Asia pics.
