Serious answer: Vodka has all sorts of other chemicals and flavorings besides just the alcohol. If you're going to do Vodka, I would go for everclear or the 180 proof stuff; you want as close to pure ethanol + water as you can get. But vinegar is probably a safer bet.

Curious....did you stop for a different method of nitrate/phosphate control? Didn't need anymore?

I stopped since it worked well and i was tired of manually dosing. I did go thru a phase of cyano and algae after but since it has been fairly stable.
