How OCD are you about your tank?

Nope...not at all....almost been a month since last WC...getting coralline spots on the front and back sides of the tank. Maybe I'll do some testing today at least, been two weeks, was doing it every week.

I used to be OCD...now I'm under treatment and medications. I do sort my pills by color shades from light to dark.

Is it the fine details, like coral placement and colors or over all aesthetics of the tank, it's location, wiring, equipment...... That's most important to you?

For me it’s the whole thing. What I put in and when and how many. What fish and in what order how’s the rock going to hold and look with certain coral. How’s the wires. Is everything the best there is to make it best for the living creatures it can be if not the ocean then it’s up to me to make sure it’s as close as possible.
But most of all... if I get stuck on wanting to do something with the tank.. awc, ato etc I could be up until 4 am researching it. Did that last night trying to figure out how to pump my RODI to the reservoir without hooking up a hose and running it through the living room. And walaaaaa I got it at 4am then slept like a baby.

While we are on the topic of helicopter reefiing , I thought I'd share a story right now about the fact that I'm currently doing my weekly water change. Which happens every Friday. (It is Saturday folks.) Procrastination got the best of me because my teenage son had friends over yesterday to play Dungeons and Dragons, and I didn't want to drag out my stuff and make a mess with a bunch of thirteen year olds battling orcs and goblins in my living room. This I do not think is a bad excuse for not changing the water. But the reason I didn't do it last night is because I was watching "Guardians of the Galaxy" for about the 77th time with my kids and I love the movie. (Hey, it has an awesome soundtrack, don't judge me. ) Oh, I could have done the water change yesterday morning...but it was morning. I can only do so much. So today -- which was going to be a Tonya fun day, has turned into getting wet, scrubbing protein skimmer yuck off of my hands and trying to figure out why my flipper doesn't scrub algae as well as it did before. Oh, and @Jay Z ... I'm probably not going to scrub out my sump.

I've been obsessing as I finally got my cyano n algae issues taken care of...parameters in check...and just purchased new corals....a goodly amount... and am constantly watching them for any changes. I noticed a new sps frag bleaching slightly so of course i am checking every 15 minutes for any sign from any other coral and of course changing flow or light ever so slightly even though i know better. I just dont want anything to die. Sigh. So yes. Getting very OCD.

Good to know I’m not alone when I’m obsessing. Going on vacation in July and already thinking I can’t QT fish knowing the timeline!

When it comes to my reef I'm OCD.

I get frags and give them enough room to grow into a colony. I like it when frags establish themselves as large colonies instead of millions of smaller variety frags taking over the tank.

I am also more selective of what corals I get.

Yeah, that's pretty odd! I just put a Caribbean top snail and a small urchin and they keep it clean enough for me

Can I put my pencil urchins down there so once I get more softies they don’t eat them out of the DT? Will they eat all the ogo and chaeto?

All urchins are pretty efficient at eating algae. I'm not sure about the chaeto but I wouldn't put it past them when they're hungry! I know that they do an excellent job of keeping the coralline at bay!
