How often do you change PH probe on your Apex?

Just curious. I've had mine for 18 months and re calibrated a few times. The past week I'm noticing my PH dropping .01 each day. Thinking it's about time to replace...

Did you get the lab grade? Mine has been perfect. You shouldn't have to re calibrate unless you see some decent changes. There may be many other factors of PH drop. Does your PH have a swing? .1 doesn't seem like much unless it has been happening for weeks.

You tube it very simple. You need 2 packets. 1 of 10.0 and 1 of 7.0

It's the orp that does not need calibration. Ph probe is easy to do. You tube or bulk reef supply has one on there site.

Prior to calibrating, you might wish to soak it in vinegar over night to clean off any calcifications. Rinse off the vinegar a few times and recalibrate.

I would never chase PH. It always fluctuates between day and night time unless u dos your recommended amount of ALK at night. Your talking .1 of a change. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

The change can be related to your house being closed up tighter and heater on, this will raise the CO2 level in your house and drop your PH. I would not worry to much unless you are getting lower than 7.8, if down in the 7.7 range fresh air from outside to your skimmer air intake or building a CO2 scrubber can help. Your drop is minimal that I agree.

I've gotten at least 2 years out of a probe and probably calibrate it every 2-3 months. I use one for an acid titration test to read KH and a second is in an inline holder from my Ca Rx reading my effluent- I don't use the ORP port, so that's where the 2nd PH probe is connected.

They do need calibration and I know it was time to replace once calibration took 10 minutes to settle, plus it would fall out of calibration rather quickly.

I've not spent the extra money for lab grade- 2 years use (could be more) is fine for a 35.00 devise ( for me)

Doesn't use the probe to read KH, but uses it to do an acid titration to determine KH. Look HERE for the method.

I have lab grade worth the money. In fact it's the only one the should sell. I have never seen a change where my probe would need to be calibrated. Been over a year. Maybe that's the difference between the standard and lab.
