Well I have been up and running for 6 weeks. I have a few fish and corals. I am needing to scrape my glass every 2 -3 days. I am getting a thin covering of a green/white build up. Is this normal?

Nitrate 5 Api
Phosphate .04 Hanna
Amonia/nitrite 0 api
Ph 7.97-8.07. Apex probe
SG 1.024
Ca 440 api
Mg 1250 api
KH 11 api

Thanks and happy new year

Sorry about the typo in the headline.

I clean the glass every two days, or maybe every three. You said "scrape", where I use a cleaning magnet with a pad that is similar to the soft side of velcro. It doesn't take long, but when you don't use it your tank looks less appealing. So do it often. Most fish stores clean their glass daily, as do public aquariums.

The flipper has a metal scraper side and a soft felt side. I find the scrapper works betterhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0avHe5bmF4g

Sounds normal to me. I actually clean mine every day using a Flipper as well. I do it for three reasons: Cleaning is easy because it doesn't get caked on; gives me a chance to make sure I'm looking things over; and I hate dirty glass. Other than that, it could be done every 3-4 days.

one of the best reef advice I received is clean your glass and keep the snails on the rocks.

I clean mine every day, just because I hate seeing it, and it only takes a couple of minutes standing in front of the tank.

I cleane mine once a week, I find if my lights are on to long then I get a lot of build up.

1-2 days here using Magfloat. Water and Distilled vinegar on a small spray bottle for the outside glass to take care of streaks and unwanted marks.

I clean my glass during every water change, which is every week.

2-3 days here for me. But day after I clean you can see a beginning of the film starting.
