I know they say you should feed them a couple times a week. However I have a Japanese and Brazilian Dragon Moray that for the last 10 years have been feed on the 1st of every month. One time per month and they are completely happy and healthy with nice thick bodies. They're already aggressive eels by nature and I used to feed them more years ago, but they would become even more aggressive and wreck water quality. Only reason I even considered going that long was because my JDM has at times gone on feeding strikes for periods of 4 plus months at a time. I'll try and take some close up photos, but you can see from here they don't look malnourished.

We have a 4 foot tess that we feed every 3rd day. Perhaps we are over feeding him?
Cheers! Mark
Well? A tess is definitely a big boy/girl. I'm in no way saying whats right or wrong. Just more curious. How's you water quality? Mine would get all jacked but it's only a 150 gal.

We have had our bouts with 100 nitrates ( we don't have a sump on this reef) now we are running a hang on back skimmer and nitrates are 15-25

Different eels eat different amounts from my experience. Some like yours don't eat often. Others need more. I'd say on average most eat a few times in a week like 1-3.

I think we all battle water quality with big nasty fish.
