Hey guys, I am new to the LPS community lol but I was wondering how often should/do you feed? I try to feed like every other day, but is that over feeding? I'm feeding mysis, and it seems like all my frags are pigs lol they always seem hungry (tentacle extension) how often should I feed? also, what do monti's eat? I try to feed it mysis but I'm not sure how much it actually gets...? Btw are your duncans/favias the pigs of your tank as well?

Im not 100% sure but i feed my acans some mysis once a week and they have been doing well for me.I hope this helps

I feed anytime I have some mysis left over. I try to use as little as possible when feeding fish and if I have some left I feed whatever have feeders out. Ive noticed great growth from spot feeding.

+++1 frankenstein as long as you dont have a nutrient problem feed as much as you like.. Believe it or not they are animals too and need to be feed. LOL they eat on the reef all day everyday. the more you feed the faster they grow. JUST WATCH YOUR NITRATE AND P04 LEVELS LIKE A HAWK!!!! and keep um low!!

Put me down in the no feeding coral group. I used to feed my LPS but my fish won't have any of that nonsense going on. :D I do have a well established tank though so I'm sure the LPS eat zooplankton that naturally breed in the tank. I'm not against feeding corals but in my tank I've found that it's not needed for my photosynthetic corals.

I know what you mean, but my tank is only 28 gallons.. and its quite new, I'm not confident enough to know that there are naturally breeding zooplankton yet lol and I don't feed my one photosynthetic coral ;) everything else is non-photosynthetic

So my local reef club just went to sea world and were allowed access to the "lab". It was amazing to say the least. But one thing the biologist told us was that they never feed photosynthetic coral. Ever! Clams either. Of any size. They had clams that were seized by Texas fish and game that were less than an inch long. This was on a 2000 gallon system with 4 fish!

I feed 2-3 x a week. Many people say they don't need it but with an enclosed system I assume there are not enough nutrients for them IMO;)
