How often is too often? W/C

How often is too often for water changes? We do not run a sump so keeping Nitrate and Phosphate undercontrol is becoming a bit challenging. Currently keeping them at 0.15-0.2 and 20-40ppm on weekly waterchanges. We left on vacation and our tank was nasty after 5 days doing a wc before we left because I didnt feel comfortable having our house sitter dose po4-no3-x. Did a 25% wc last night on our 65 and wondering if I did one wednesday if it would be too soon or if I would be fine?

You may find that water changes alone hardly make a dent for nitrate and phosphate control. What are you running for filtration on your tank? (I assume it isn't an all-in-one with a mini sump at the back or side of the tank like a Fluval Evo?)
