How often should i change out active carbon media?

Activated carbon gets a bacterial mulm on it within 2-3 weeks which reduces it's efficacy. I replace mine about once a month though.

Hello, I haven't running any lately however when I do I try to change it out once a month. Probably not enough but I forget & it's pricey ! Let's see what others say.

Ok. Thats what ive currently been doing. Just wasn't sure if i was that was too often or not often enough. Thanks

Carbon is also depleted by the 48 hour mark you keep running to just completely exhaust it. But there is not much difference after that.

I’ve emailed the maker of chemipure and the suggested 3-4 months change depending on bioload

I use BRS .8 carbon. They recommend it be changed every 3 weeks. I change it once a month and that seems to work fine.

Another thing to add. Instead of trying to put a time frame on it, just observe the flow. Your output flow will start to slow down when the carbon begins getting clogged, indicating you need to swap it out soon.

What evidence is that based on?
