I have 3 small tangs 1 big purple tang and 1 big fox face (not a tang but eats the same) I feed them a good size sheet of nori in the morning and at night. They also get brine shrimp and pellets every once and awhile when I feed the others. They finish the nori so fast and always look hungry so I was wondering if they need more or if this is a good feeding schedule. Thanks!

Tangs, like most herbivores, are not particularly efficient metabolizers - which means they are always looking for food and tough on the bio-load. I keep anthias as well, so I am feeding my tank 4 times per day (including one feeding or nori). The key is to make sure they are maintaining a healthy weight. Not fat, as so many people seem to like to say, but also not with ribs or spine showing either. It can take quite a while for an underweight tang to get back to a healthy weight. If one has the space, I always recommend a bristle for a reef tank (chevie bring my first choice) as they are4 excellent detritovores. My chevie mostly eats the crap from the other tangs.

Young tangs have a very fast metabolism, so would benefit from increased feedings.

My tangs have access to enough nori to keep them grazing for 1/2-2/3 of the day.
