I was considering something, if some corals spread by growing then splitting then continnuing to grow (i.e. frags) how old can you call the coral?

P.s. does anyone know what type of coral this is

Your coral looks like a forest fire branching montipora. Very cool coral and does well in a stable system :)

Most corals could outlive most other animals on Earth by a long shot. The thing to remember about corals is that they are colonial animals and while an individual polyp may not live all that long when compared to the colony, the entire colony could live and grow for thousands of years and just keep replicating polyps with the exact same DNA and building their skeleton outwards, all the while sexually reproducing and making more of the same species and sometimes resulting in slight deviations that results in different strains and colors of the same coral.
