My tank was originally set up in the late 80s and back then ORP controllers were the pinnacle of tech and I had one as well. Fast forward to present, my ORP has been sitting collecting dust for over 25 years. I recently dusted it off literally, bought a new probe and had to rig it to work with the old wired connection, bought calibration solutions and guess what, to no surprise it didn't work, the numbers were all over the place.
Today I was going to chuck everything in the trash bin when I realized that the connection to the instrument was loose.
I tightened the connection and walla, it works.
I must have paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 back in the day and this little bugger is still kicking!!!
Who would have thought!!!

I also have been reefing a long time, since the 90s. That is one piece of equipment that I never tried. I am not much of an electronic geek reefer. For me it's about the biology although I do have a used probe and temperature controller that no longer works except that it tells me the temperature. I prefer the digital display to a thermometer stuck to the side of the tank.
